Born in New York City, moved to Hungary in 1988 to do fieldwork in anthropology, just as the communist era was coming to an end, and decided to stay to chronicle the changes in culture and society in east Europe. Worked as culture editor of "Budapest Week" Budapest's first private English Language weekly newspaper 1991-1995, edited "The Hungarian Spectator" and "Magyar Music" for Xenomusic.com. Freelance publications include Time Out! travel guide, Fodor's Travel guide, KLM Airlines' in-flight magazine, EAT magazine (Japan). Leader of award winning Klezmer band "Di Naye Kapelye".

Fumie Suzuki
Photographer, Travel writer
Born in Tokyo, Japan, graduated Tama Art University in graphic design and photography. She traveled in Asian countries with her camera and came to Europe in 1998, moved to Budapest in 1999. Has photographed and written for magazines and travel guidebooks including "Time Out! travel guide", "Frommer's travel guide" and "Skyward" (Japan Airlines' In-flight Magazine). She has been photographing the arts of Eastern Europe, particularly traditional life, folk music and musicians.
